What is Full Spectrum?

When shopping for CBD products, you’ve likely come across the terms full spectrum, broad spectrum, and CBD isolate. While these three terms may sound similar, they indicate significant differences in the products. So, what are these differences and how do you determine which is best for you?

Simply put, these terms are used to define which type of CBD is used in the product. Within the Cannabis plant, there is a classification of compounds known as cannabinoids. Among these are CBD and THC, which naturally occur within different Cannabis strains. Researchers have discovered that, by interacting with receptors in the human Endocannabinoid System (ECS), cannabinoids like CBD can deliver unique health benefits to the body.

But each cannabinoid affects the body differently. For example, while THC delivers the psychoactive effects associated with “getting high,” CBD does not. With various ranges of effects delivered by the various cannabinoids, the full collection of cannabinoids forms what is referred to as the “cannabinoid spectrum.” This cannabinoid spectrum range determines whether a product is a full spectrum, broad-spectrum, or CBD isolate.

CBD ISOLATE

In scientific terms, an isolate is the purest form of a compound, which is produced by singularly extracting that compound from its environment and isolating it from all other compounds. With that being said, CBD Isolate means the product contains pure CBD with no other cannabinoids or other ingredients included in the mix. Though often assumed to be the most potent form of CBD, full or broad-spectrum CBD has been shown to offer a higher degree of relief from symptoms associated with inflammatory conditions. CBD Isolate is typically extracted from Hemp, due to its low to non-existent THC content.

FULL SPECTRUM CBD

Full-spectrum CBD takes all the beneficial compounds from the plant and puts it together into a single formulation for maximum potency, known as the entourage effect. When purchasing full-spectrum CBD, it is critical to know the source of the cannabinoid. If the formulation comes from the marijuana plant, THC will likely be a part of the mix, so look for full-spectrum hemp CBD if you want to minimize your THC consumption.

BROAD SPECTRUM CBD

Broad-spectrum CBD is not as well-known as the other two. This formulation has all the same benefits as full-spectrum CBD but there is absolutely no THC in the ingredient list. For people that are sensitive to the compound or can’t afford to have any THC in their system, broad-spectrum CBD might be the way to go.

Soji Health offers full-spectrum hemp CBD products that are THC free. This ensures that their customers enjoy the maximum entourage effect without worrying about any THC in their system.
