Wellness in 2021

Wellness has been difficult to maintain in 2020, to say the least. With the rise of COVID-19, regional lockdowns, raging wildfires, and endless schooling from home, our focus seemed to shift from wellness to mere survival. We redirected our focus from skincare to sanitation, working out to working from home, and from zen to Zoom. In the midst of all of this, our mental and physical wellness was left in disarray.

2021 is an opportunity to reclaim our physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing as we identify new ways to take care of ourselves and those around us. Here are a few of our favorite wellness trends for the new year:

FLEXIBLE GOALS

If the last 10 months have taught us anything, it is that we must remain flexible and adaptable to the many curveballs the world may throw us. This means setting more realistic goals and resolutions. Rather than having one set resolution for 2021, try having a long list of micro-goals to choose from.

Flexible goals can be shifted depending on where this next year takes us, and are better for your overall wellness. For example, instead of weight loss, people are focusing on weight management and maintenance. Ultimately, micro-goals will end up being ones that people feel fully confident they can achieve—and of greater benefit to their health and wellness journey.

DIGITAL DETOX

As we find ourselves in a very digital world, it is more important than ever to take time away from our screens. A digital detox can be devoting a week, weekend, or even just a day to living without your phone, social media, and TV. Instead, take more time with yourself, go for long walks in nature, meditate, read, or work on a creative project. Disconnecting from our digital world will enable you to focus on yourself and your wellness without any distractions.

CARE FOR THE COMMUNITY

In 2020, we experienced first-hand the importance of advocating and caring for others. This concern for our greater community should remain a priority in the new year. A growing awareness that helping other people is actually the greatest pathway to happiness will emerge, with people prioritizing giving back, donating their time and skills, and using their power to address systemic issues that are present in their own lives, workplaces, and communities.

HOLISTIC HEALING

We continue to see more widespread acceptance of cannabis use and the stigma surrounding it continues to decrease. As legalization expands and people look for more holistic ways to deal with their own medical issues and wellbeing, more people are discovering how they can incorporate cannabis into their own lives.

As this trend continues to grow, so does the variety of products. The range of topicals, tinctures, and edibles on the market is always expanding, ensuring that there is the perfect fit for everyone looking to incorporate CBD into their wellness regime. Whether one is looking for sleep aid, pain relief, or help with anxiety, CBD is a great remedy to take with you into the new year!

From all of us at Flourish + Live Well, we are wishing you and your loved ones a very happy new year- we made it! We look forward to continuing to help you find wellness in 2021.
